A personal map, a place, a question

How to read astrocartography map results

Here is how to read astrocartography map results: choose a place and read the nearby lines’ planet and angle labels together. Check their distance, then use the location reading to understand the life themes and cautions associated with that place. If you have several cities in mind, compare them under the same goal and read the evidence behind their rankings.

01 / Read the whole signal

How to read astrocartography map labels

A line label contains two parts. The planet identifies the astrological theme; the angle connects it to an area of life. In this map’s readings, ASC relates to self and identity, DSC to close relationships, MC to career and public life, and IC to home and roots. ASC is also abbreviated AC or AS, and DSC as DC or DS; the examples below use DS.

A label such as Moon–DS
Combine the Moon’s emotional and security themes with DS’s relationship focus. Keep the angle when reading a planet’s meaning.
Distance in kilometres
This is the calculated distance between your chosen place and the line. A closer line is a stronger proximity signal; distance alone does not tell you whether it supports your goal.
The location reading
Look for the life themes, experiences worth exploring and cautions associated with your lines at this place.
Support and caution in a comparison
Read these for the goal you selected. They describe the product’s interpretation of the calculated signals, rather than a probability of success.

For individual planet meanings and the four angles, use the astrocartography lines guide. Here, we will apply those labels to a place, a comparison and a personal report.

02 / From a signal to a personal question

Read what a place means for you

Choose a place on your personal map, or use Check City to find it by name. The location reading connects your planetary lines with that place: the life area they emphasize, experiences worth exploring and concerns to keep in view. The map reading follows the lines currently visible, so check your filters when exploring a location.

In this calculated map, Akureyri is about 1.1 km from Moon–DS. The location reading connects the signal with close relationships and emotional security. Its guidance includes building routines, joining a community and developing belonging; its caution asks you to consider emotional boundaries and how strongly relationships affect you.

Would closer connection help you feel at home here, and how much personal space would you need?

The reading gives you a way to observe the place in relation to your own needs. It does not establish that everyone will experience Akureyri this way.

To practice how to read astrocartography map results, choose a city you know or want to visit. Read its full label and distance, then identify one theme to explore and one caution to keep in view.

03 / Compare the same question

Read the reasons behind a city comparison

When you have several places in mind, Compare Cities lets you choose two to four cities and a goal: relocation, career, relationships, home or travel. You receive a ranking alongside each city’s support, cautions and the signals behind the assessment.

CityCareer rankCareer supportCareer cautionSelected support evidence
Krakow, Poland1ModerateLowJupiter–MCAbout 3.3 km away

Growth, public visibility and career expansion.

Akureyri, Iceland2LightLowMercury–MCAbout 230 km away

Communication, writing and business exchange.

Orlando, Florida3WeakLowMars–MCAbout 492.4 km away

Ambition and action, with a wider-distance signal.

This comparison uses the same sample birth details as the Akureyri reading. The final column selects one support signal from each result.

Akureyri’s closest map line was Moon–DS, while its career evidence includes Mercury–MC. The location reading highlights the nearby relationship theme; Compare Cities brings the signals relevant to your chosen goal into the assessment. Those results help answer different questions about the same place.

Krakow has stronger career support within this shortlist. Akureyri’s evidence points toward communication-based work. Orlando’s more distant Mars–MC signal contributes weaker support, and its detailed interpretation also raises questions about competition, intensity and burnout. The overall Low caution label should be read alongside that detail.

For your own comparison, keep the goal consistent across cities and read the reasons behind the ranking. You can then identify which option has more support for your question and which concerns deserve closer attention. A career result does not settle how the same city reads for home or relationships.

04 / Trace the judgment to its evidence

See the evidence behind your personal report

When learning how to read astrocartography map evidence, use your Personal Astrocartography Report to trace a place’s support and cautions across several areas of life. It covers its own selected places, using a broader set of evidence that includes planetary lines, angle aspects, Parans and relocated charts. It also checks how the analysis changes with a small shift in birth time.

Worked example · Existing Personal Astrocartography Report · Synthetic birth details

Orlando / Strongest support

Home & community

Moon–ASC trine and Venus–ASC sextile add angle-aspect evidence beyond the main map lines.

Orlando / Greatest caution

Relationships

Neptune–DSC contributes themes of idealization and unclear boundaries.

You can trace each assessment to its reasons. For Orlando, that means examining the potential for belonging alongside expectations about partnership. The report suggests observing everyday connections during a trial stay and discussing shared routines, personal space and responsibilities before a longer move.

Check how much the reading depends on birth time

The report tests what changes when the birth time shifts five minutes earlier or later. This example is marked “moderately sensitive.” If your recorded time may be a few minutes off, the check helps you understand how much the analysis depends on that input. It cannot recover an unknown birth time or measure the likelihood of a real-life outcome.

This report is separate from the standard city comparison above: it uses its own selected places and broader evidence. Read its conclusions within that scope. Full personal reports require an exact birth time and the relevant report access; you can check current plans and report allowances before generating one from your map.

Questions about reading your map

Is the nearest line always the most useful one to read?

The nearest line is a useful starting point for understanding a location. Your question determines what else to examine. In the Akureyri example, Moon–DS is closest and highlights relationships, while the Career comparison includes Mercury–MC as support for communication and work. Read proximity together with the theme and your goal.

Does the first-ranked city have strong support?

Check the support label before treating a ranking as a recommendation. In another comparison using these sample birth details, Orlando, San Antonio and Winnipeg all have Weak support for the Home goal, even though the result lists them in order. That result gives you little positive evidence for choosing among those cities under that goal.

Why can the map, city comparison and personal report give different readings?

They examine different scopes. The map location reading follows the visible lines near your chosen place. Standard Compare Cities assesses your selected cities for a shared goal. The personal report uses its own selected places, additional evidence and several life themes. Check the location, goal and evidence behind each conclusion before comparing the answers.

Can I read an astrocartography chart without an exact birth time?

You can explore how to read astrocartography map results using an estimated map set to noon at your birthplace. Treat its line positions and location readings as provisional because they depend on the time used. Full personal reports require an exact birth time. The report's five-minute sensitivity check cannot establish a missing birth time.

Do I need to pay to read my map or compare cities?

All planetary lines, complete map location readings, Check City and standard Compare Cities are free, without signing in or usage limits. Personal Astrocartography Reports and Full AI City Comparison Reports have separate access requirements. You can follow the map and standard comparison examples in this guide without buying a report.
